MUNCIE, IN—If you’ve been on West McGalliard road lately, you’ve probably noticed Muncie’s newest hotel is taking shape and going up quickly.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites is being built next door to the Greg Hubler Hyundai automotive dealership on Hometown Boulevard in Muncie.

The 105 room hotel was approved by the Board of Zoning Appeals in May of last year.  According to a June 6, 2023 Muncie Journal.com article, a 2020 hotel study showed that Muncie could support at least three new hotels.

“There’s definitely a need,” says Mayor Dan Ridenour. “There are so many conventions and events hosted in Muncie, our hoteliers have been overbooked for years.”

For example, in  2022-23, there were dozens of events and major conventions at the downtown Horizon Convention Center, and events like graduations, sports tournaments, Ironman, and other festivals fill up local hotels quickly. Plus, the solar eclipse weekend of April 8th has most local hotels completely booked.

The developer of the new hotel is the Amerilodge group, and the hotel expects to bring 50-60 new jobs to Muncie when it opens.

The new hotel will offer travelers a blend of comfort and convenience with spacious rooms and suites in addition to a variety of complimentary amenities such as Wi-Fi, fitness center and more.
