ANDERSON, IN — After five decades of dedicated service to Central Indiana, JobSource Community Action Program is proud to announce a comprehensive rebranding. Effective immediately, the agency will operate as Heartland Community Action Program, and its supporting nonprofit, JobSource Inc., has been renamed Heartland Families, Inc.
The transition to “Heartland” reflects the organization’s evolving mission to provide holistic, family-centered support while honoring its deep roots as the designated Community Action Program (CAP) for Madison and Grant Counties.
A Legacy of Impact and Recent Transformation
The rebrand coincides with the agency’s 50th anniversary. While the organization celebrates a half-century of history, the last six years have marked a significant turning point. Under the leadership of Doug Eckerty, the organization has experienced tremendous growth, expanding its reach, diversifying its funding, and modernizing its approach to community stability.
“For 50 years, we’ve been a catalyst for change, but the growth we’ve seen in the last six years has truly prepared us to see transformative generational change for families in the coming decades,” said Doug Eckerty, Executive Director of Heartland Community Action Program. “Our new name represents the heart of the families we serve and the renewed energy our leadership team brings to Central Indiana.”
Cornerstone Programming: Innovation and Tradition
Heartland continues to balance innovative, life-changing solutions with its time-tested essential services:
- Heartland Scholar House (HSH): Now the agency’s cornerstone initiative, HSH is a two-generation program that provides student family housing and comprehensive support services to single parents pursuing higher education in Central Indiana. By removing barriers to degree completion through academic coaching, life-skills training, and family-focused wraparound support, HSH fulfills Heartland’s mission of empowering families to achieve educational success and financial independence. The program currently serves families through its campuses in Anderson, Marion, and Muncie.
- Weatherization Assistance Program: Heartland proudly continues to operate its longest-running initiative. This program remains vital in reducing utility costs and ensuring safe, energy-efficient living environments for low-income residents, proving that long-term stability begins with a secure home.
